G20orthe Group of Twentyis an international forum for the governments and central bank governors from 20 major economies.
It was founded in 1999 with the aim of studying, reviewing, and promoting high-level discussion of policy issuespertaining tothe promotion of international financialstability.
The members include 19 individual countries—Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Turkey, the United Kingdom and the United States—along with the European Union (EU), which is represented by the President of theEuropean Counciland by Head of the European Central Bank.
The G20 Summits of heads of state or government are held in addition to the G20 Meetings of Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors, who continue to meet to prepare the leaders' summit andimplementtheir decisions.The first G20 Leaders’ Summit was held from 14-15 November2008 inWashington D.C., United States of America.The2016G20 Hangzhou Summit is the 11thG20 meeting. The theme of G20 Hangzhou Summit is “building aninnovative,invigorated, interconnected andinclusiveworld economy”.
Some guest countries and the United Nations,the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank, the World Trade Organization,the Financial Stability Board, the International Labor Organization,the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development(OECD) are also invited to attend G20 Summit.
